The year 2024 was a busy and successful one for the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association. While our overall call volume increased slightly by 2%, we made significant strides in reducing the reliance on mutual aid partners by handling more calls internally. This shift not only strengthened our team but also reduced the burden on neighboring services—a significant achievement for our organization.

We received a total of 2,457 requests for service, responding to 2,145 of them. These efforts resulted in 1,606 patient transports to the hospital. Our mutual aid partners—including Enfield EMS, Windsor Locks Lions Ambulance, East Windsor Ambulance, Windsor Emergency Medical Services, and Granby Ambulance Association—assisted with 312 calls within our community.

In addition to managing local calls, 2024 saw our highest number of mutual aid responses to neighboring towns, including Agawam, East Granby, East Hartland, East Windsor, Enfield, Granby, Simsbury, Somers, Southwick, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.

Delivering Exceptional Patient Care

Behind every number is a person in need—someone who turned to us for help. Our providers delivered care ranging from assisting with medical devices or offering a helping hand to administering life-saving treatments. Each interaction was an opportunity for our team to demonstrate their skill, dedication, and compassion—qualities they continually refine through regular training.

Thanks to this commitment, we achieved outstanding results in patient satisfaction. Our 2024 patient experience score of 97.57 was the highest among the 243 organizations partnered with EMS Survey Team—an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects the dedication of our entire team.

Looking Ahead to 2025

With so many achievements in 2024 that we can’t fit into this space, we’re excited to build on this momentum in 2025. We remain committed to excellence in service, collaboration, and patient care for our community and beyond.
